The founder of Cable News Network,Ted Turner has died.He was 87.
The news of his passing was confirmed by Mark Thompson,the CNN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.According to media sources Ted Turner had been living with dementia since 2018.
He is said to have passed on peacefully on Wednesday, surrounded by family,at his home near Tallahassee, Florida.
Described by some as a media maverick ,he was born Robert Edward ‘Ted’ Turner lll on 19 November 1938,in Cincinnati.He made history when he launched Cable News Network (CNN) – the first 24-hour,all news cable network,on 1 June 1980.
Ted will also be best remembered as a passionate,yachtsman and philanthropist.
