A Kadoma-born darts player has reached a milestone for her club after earning an invitation to the national darts trials held at St Peter’s Catholic Hall in Chinhoyi from 23 to 24 May.

Representing Golden Valley Mine Darts Club, also known as the Golden Stars, Emmaculate Makombe, 25, competed against 20 other women for national darts caps and finished eighth.

Inspired by the late renowned female darts player Janet Mugwagwa, known as Amai Rati, Emmaculate developed a passion for darts at age 13 while attending Rimuka 2 High School.

Her teammates Bhekezela Khumalo and Design Shereni represented the club in the men’s category, finishing 15th and 11th respectively. Thirty-three men took part in the men’s national darts trials.
