Biggie Tembo Gets Posthumous Recognition

The late iconic Zimbabwean musician,Biggie Tembo,will today get an award from the Chinhoyi Excellence Community Awards -through an initiative by Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT),for his immense contribution to the music industry.Tembo’s son Eriah is scheduled to receive the award on his father’s behalf.The historic event will be held at Chinhoyi University of Technology.

A musician in his own right, Eriah had this to say about the prestigious award:”To me this award means everything in my career. Thank you so much to the organizers of this award, and to everyone who has supported my father’s music over the years. I am truly humbled.

I want to thank my family, my team, and everyone who has supported me on this journey. This award is not just a recognition of my father’s work, but also a testament to the power of music to bring people together and transcend generations. As I accept this award, I promise to continue to carry on my father’s legacy, to keep his music alive, and to make him proud.”

Biggie Tembo,the Simbimbino hitmaker,made a mark on the global music scene with the Bhundu Boys ensemble in the late ’80s and early ’90s.He toured Europe and performed with international stars , including Madonna.During his hay days Biggie rubbed shoulders with Jack Chan and many other Hollywood stars.
