The name Taurai Zenda is popular in singura music circles.ln this exclusive interview with the Golden-Patch New’s Ronnie Chisamba (R.C) the Kadoma-based artiste gives us a glimpse of his career and personal life.Below are excerpts:
R.C: Thank you Taurai for affording the Golden-Patch News the opportunity to have this interview . lt is indeed an honour and great privilege.
T.Z: You are welcome.
R.C: When and where were you born?
T.Z:l was born on 17 April 1979.The place of my birth is Guruve.
R.C:lt is common for artiste to have stage names, would you mind sharing yours with our readers?
T.Z:No, l don’t mind.My stage name is Tauzen.
R.C:Readers would be very eager to know how you got the name.
T.Z:My fans give me the name but not sure when and where.
R.C: When did you develop a passion for a career in the music industry?
T.Z:l developed a passion for music in 1999 back then l used to play a homemade guitar.
R.C:Who is or are your source (s) of inspiration?
T.Z:Tongai Moyo,Admire Kasenga and Leonard Dembo are my sources of inspiration.
R.C:When did make a recognizable mark on the music arena and how?
T.Z:A made it professional in 2003,this was as part of the legendary Kasongo ensemble.l also had a stint with the Sounds of Rhinos Band.
R.C: Which other celebrated have you worked with to date?
T.Z:l have worked with a number of seasoned musicians including Gift Amuli,Andy Muridzo, Allan Chimbetu and Simon Mutambi.
R.C: Which band are you currently working with and who is the frontman?
T.Z:I am currently with Philemon ‘Fidza’ Matsveru and Orchestra Gwindingwi.
R.C: What is your position at Orchestra Gwindingwi?
T.Z:lam the lead guitarist and vocalist.
R.C:To rap it up , what are your words of advice to fans and upcoming musicians ?
T.C:My words of advice is to stay humble,to work hard, never give up and be patient because patience and perseverance pay.
