Couple Scoops Best Farming Award

Blackmorevale(Chakari) – A local couple celebrated winning the best farmer award at their homestead in Nyatwa on Thursday last week.Organized by the area agriculture extension officer,a Mr Muchalanji,the grand occasion was attended by hundreds.Among the invited guests were members from the ministries of agriculture, education and health.
Graced by prominent local Zanu PF figures,Mrs Elizabeth Chisa and Tafadzwa Kwaramba the event was held to honor the hard work of the winning couple,Tavengwa Kamwere(47) and Elizabeth Kamwere (44).
An annual agricultural showcase,the event focuses on the farming method ‘Pfumvudza’.A government initiative ,the farming method emphasizes minimum soil disturbance, maximum soil cover,crop rotation and high yields,in an attempt to alleviate poverty.
One hundred and sixty-six farmers from Blackmorevale battled it out for top honours this year.
Entertainment from farmers, locals and school children added more life to the grand occasion.
